Here's the news from Elder Johnson's mission president concerning the weather in New York:
Dear Parents of New York Rochester Missionary
We did not see the predictions here in Western New York that were expected. We had some rain and wind over night, cloudy and calm this morning. Missionaries are all back to normal schedule. We always appreciate all of your prayers and support. We love our missionaries.
President Jack R. Christianson
So all is well thanks for all of your prayers :) And for fun here is a letter from Boone to our good friends, the Taylor's

I have an accent?
It was my first week in the field! I got put in a small area called Penn Yan! My trainer's name is Elder Nicholes and he is awesome! We found 3 investigators and no one has yelled at me yet. The entire Penn Yen Branch could fit in the first two rows in the chappel back home but they are really nice peopel. Last night a family invited us to dinner and the curry was so spicy i thought my face was melting. people have commented on my accent, and the weird part is, i dont have an accent! all the buildings here are really old and theres a lot of ahmish people riding in buggies. they dont like us very much. We have 4 people with baptizmal dates but we might have to push those back. my companion likes to lift weights and i like to let my metabolism exercize so he makes me lift with him. i might be muscley when i get back to utah. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! anyway thats this weeks update! love you! miss you!

Amish Paradise
We got Boone's first email from New York today!! So here goes:
Hi! Our plane was broken so it couldn't land in Rochester, so we had to fly to Syracuse instead. we got to the mission home at like 9:00 at night! it was pretty fun though. My companions name is Elder Nichols, he is from a town close to Provo that i don't remember the name of. my area is called Pen Yan. its a really small town with tons of chain smokers and old cat ladies. I'm proceliting in an Amish Paradise. Seriously though, there are buggies EVERYWHERE! On Saturday We are taking some investigators to the Smith family farm and the sacred grove and the hill Cumorah. I cant wait! We went and bought groceries last night (because i didn't have any) and i bought enough to keep me happy for probably 3 weeks and it was pretty cheap. i might be in this area for 6 months but my companion only has 12 weeks left! What happens when he leaves and i still cant speak english?! Also i need a Jacket cause its getting cold but its not cold enough for my coat yet and i cant use my Bob Firman Hoodie because that says stuff on it. i can only where that on p day. the rules for jacket are dark colors and it can only have a small brand symbol. Also this is a FaceBook using Mission so i have to be on facebook for an hour everyday. its pretty cool that we preach through facebook. anyways love you and i gotta go. lots to do! P.S. Nutella is huge here. Love you!
Elder Johnson
We are so excited for him! Although we are concerned about the whole language situation... that English is though to learn!
I googled Penn Yan and it is just south east of Rochester... It only has about 5,000 people, which is crazy. I'm sure they will all know who he is by Friday! I'll be sure to keep you posted when we hear something new but in the meantime here is a vid of Elder Johnson and his roommates at the MTC:
Thanks again! Please write!
MTC Photos.... at last!
Today a magical thing came in the mail... an SD card with photographs and videos of E. Johnson's life at the MTC. It's just nice to have visual proof that Boone is alive... and hasn't made the other Elders absolutely crazy yet. So here you go... We'll start with photos and if you are feeling SUPER adventurous you can meander to the videos. They are very profound?
I can offer you NO explanation of these photos I hope you liked them.
Thank you so much to everyone who is offering their support to my baby brother. It means the world. I'm sure, now that Booney is in New York he would LOVE to hear from you. Please write to him! We love you!!

Camp Fire in July
October 9, 2012
Hi Mom and Dad
I met an elder from Italy and he spoke little to no English. It was fun. We started drawing pictures on a napkin to communicate. I wish you guys would write me back. I've gotten 1 from each of you and 2 from Sydney. And a box from the Taylors. I'm sending one of the memory cards home on Monday. It's got pictures and some videos. Be sure to show the ones with Fred to the team and the ones with the fork to Clay.
I'm terrified of the dryers here. For some reason they are "hotter than a campfire in July"... as Elder Gale puts it. I need to figure out how to take the crap out of the collars of my shirts. They look really yucky on the inside. Beach volleyball is keeping me from getting fat! This place is great! I'm so happy I'm leaving on Monday! Quarantine is getting really old! the videos on the card are kind of silly! So don't be surprised if you laugh. I miss you lots and lots. Be happy. Cuddle my cat. WRITE ME BACK.
Say hi to the team.
love you
Boone!

Laundry and Boise State
October 2, 2012
Dear Mom and Dad,
Hi. It's my P-Day and I'm doing laundry. It's freaking packed in here. So I went to put on a pair of pants and the waist is 3 times bigger than me. But for reals, they're huge. My district is so cool. We're 24C. There's 10 of us, 5 going to Rochester and 5 going to Seattle. The MTC is like college mixed with quarantine! But we get gym time and Temple time and personal time with our companions. The food is seriously broken but marshmallow mateys are open for every meal. 300 Elders came in the day we came here. More are on the way tomorrow.
It's a good place and I'm glad I'm here. I met a ball player who played for Boise State! Highlight of my life!
Be Strong, have faith, love endlessly,
Endure to the End!
Love you!
Boone
To the Team,
We share personal experiences and my favourites to share are when I was coaching you people. I miss you guys so much. It's hard to only have one hour to exercise. Me and Fred are making tons of friends! We event went to the temple!
Run hard at region and DON'T EMBARRASS ME! I brag about you to the Elders so don't suck!
Work Hard! Run fast!
Love you guys,
Elder Coach Johnson
